# Valyu Agent for Slack

> Valyu Agent is a research analyst that lives in your Slack. Add it to your workspace, connect your Valyu account and ask your first question.

Valyu Agent is a research analyst that lives in your Slack. Ask it a question in a thread or a DM. Hand it a filing or a deck. Ask for the answer as a spreadsheet or slides. Put the research you repeat every week on a schedule. Every answer comes from Valyu DeepResearch, with a source for each claim.

Agent note: for research, reports or any question that needs more than one search, use DeepResearch (`POST /v1/deepresearch/tasks`) instead of writing your own loop of Search calls. Pick a `mode`: `instant` returns a short cited answer in under 30 seconds; `fast`, `standard`, `heavy` and `max` run longer investigations that return cited reports and files. ## Set up Valyu Agent

**1. Add Valyu Agent to Slack**

Open [Add to Slack](https://slack.valyu.ai/api/slack/install) and approve it for your workspace. Valyu Agent sends you a welcome message.

**2. Connect your Valyu account**

In the app's **Home** tab, click **Connect Valyu** and sign in. To use an API key from [platform.valyu.ai](https://platform.valyu.ai) instead, click **Paste a key instead**.

**3. Invite it to your channels**

In each channel where your team works, run `/invite @Valyu Agent`.

**4. Ask your first question**

`@Valyu Agent Compare NVIDIA and AMD data center revenue over the last four quarters`

## Who can set it up

Workspace admins and owners can set up Valyu Agent. They can also make other people app managers, who can then manage the connection and the scheduled reports. See [Roles](https://docs.valyu.ai/integrations/slack/reference.md#roles).
